The letters EQAO stand for Education Quality and Accountability Office. They are an arm’s-length agency of the provincial government. They are responsible for testing students in Ontario in Grades 3, 6, 9 and 10.

Is EQAO still a thing?

The EQAO tests were on hiatus last year, but set to return for the 2021-2022 school year. Before the pandemic, the tests were done in the spring for elementary students and at various times throughout the year for high schoolers, board staff said in a report to trustees.
