The AZPOST Waiver Process is a pathway for experienced officers to either gain or regain peace officer certification. This process consists of a written test, driving proficiency, firearms qualification and the POPAT (physical agility test).

How long does AZ POST certification last?

AZPOST training videos are approved for 3 years from issuance date, except Legal Update which credit is valid for the year issued.

What do you need to become a cop in Arizona?

How hard is the Popat test?

(No, I don’t want to be a cop, but I did want to pass the test.) The POPAT is unforgiving. It has to be successfully completed in under 4:15, with my time being… exactly 4:15. But that’s okay, stick with the plan, re-group, rest 10-15 minutes, get a little sustenance in me, and do it again.

What is a good Popat time?

Aim to average 18-22 seconds per lap. An 18 sec lap will get you a 1:48 for the course; 22 sec laps will get you 2:12. You may be able to get away with 25 sec laps, but you better be confident with your strength when you reach the push/pull machine.
