The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certifies continuing professional development (CPD) activities for Mainpro+® credit. The CFPC National Committee on Continuing Professional Development (NCCPD) oversees the regulation of Mainpro+ certification.

Mainpro+® (Maintenance of Proficiency) is the CFPC’s program designed to support and promote family physicians’ continuing professional development (CPD). Mainpro+ serves three key functions: To provide CPD participation guidelines and standards for Canadian family physicians.

How many mainpro credits do you get a year?

Mainpro+ requirements Submit at least 25 credits each year (either certified or non-certified). At least 125 of the 250 credits must be Mainpro+ certified.

How many mainpro credits do you get per hour?

Content review: All two- and three-credit-per-hour programs require full content review. All program content must be submitted at the time of review.

What can you do with CME credits?

Physicians use CME credit to demonstrate that they have participated in educational activities and obtained CME credit to document meeting the requirements of state medical boards, medical specialty societies, specialty boards, hospital medical staffs, the Joint Commission, insurance groups, and others.

What happens if you fail CFPC exam?

Have a Fail standing on both the SAMP and SOO components of the exam, must retake both the SOO and SAMP components if they are still within their eligibility period; if the candidate’s eligibility has expired, they are required to apply under a new eligibility and take both the SAMP and SOO components.

How many times can you write the CFPC exam?

If candidates are unsuccessful on one of the two exam components, they may retake that component up to three times before they will be required to repeat the entire examination.
