What should the humidity be in an egg incubator?
The relative humidity of the air within an incubator for the first 18 days should be able 60 percent. During the last 3 days (the hatching period) the relative humidity should be nearer 65-70 percent.
Can incubators be too humid?
Embryos need considerable moisture to hatch properly and easily. High humidity tends to produce a late hatch; low humidity an early hatch. Do not turn the eggs the last three days of incubation.
Do incubators control humidity?
Most incubators come with a simple way to manage the humidity level. Most of these ways have to do with adding water to built-in water trays on the bottom of the incubator. They may have several different trays so the more of them you fill, the more moisture there will be in the air.
What is the maximum humidity the incubator should reach during hatching?
The optimum average humidity range for forced air incubators at these temperatures over the incubation period, to achieve the correct moisture loss is generally accepted as: 45-50% Relative Humidity for chicken and quail eggs. 50-60% Relative Humidity for ducks and geese.
What happens if humidity is too high?
Too much humidity can cause condensation on windows, wet stains on walls and ceilings, moldy bathrooms, musty odor, and/or clammy feel to the air. Rot and structural damage can also result from extended periods of high humidity in your home. And, especially in the South, it can draw pests.

Is it OK to open incubator?
When hatching begins and proper incubator conditions are attained, the incubator should never be opened until after all chicks are hatched and ready for placement in the brooder.
Can I open the incubator on day 20?
You should not open the incubator during lock-down when the eggs are pipping and hatching as it will cause the membranes to shrink and trap the chick. Your eggs should all pip within 24 hours of each other and at most a hatch should not take more than 36 hours from the first chicks to the last.
